Questions about Baptism

Do I Need To Be Baptized?
Baptism is not required for salvation, but it is an important step of obedience and a testimony of your faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation comes through grace by faith alone, not through works, including baptism

  • “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” — Ephesians 2:8-9

  • “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” — Acts 16:31
What Is Baptism?
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation—a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It symbolizes dying to sin and being raised to new life in Christ.

  • “We were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” — Romans 6:4
Why Should I Be Baptized?
Baptism is an act of obedience to Jesus’ command and a way to publicly identify with Him. It’s a step of faith that proclaims your commitment to follow Christ.

  • “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 28:19

  • “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” — John 14:15
When Is The Best Time To Be Baptized?
Baptism should follow your decision to trust Jesus as your Savior. In the Bible, baptism often occurred immediately after someone believed in Christ.

  • “Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.” — Acts 2:41

  • “Then Philip said, ‘If you believe with all your heart, you may.’ And he answered and said, ‘I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.’ So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.” — Acts 8:37-38
Should Children Be Baptized?
Children can be baptized if they have a clear understanding of salvation and have personally chosen to follow Jesus. Baptism is a personal decision based on faith in Christ, not something imposed or inherited.

  • “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” — Matthew 19:14
